The high volume, low pressure Soft-Seal cuff is intended to minimise patient trauma. Because of the cuff’s large volume, a larger surface area is in contact with the trachea. This allows the cuff to create an effective seal against the trachea at a lower pressure.

Smiths Medical's Portex Blue Line Ultra Cuffed Tracheostomy Tube is made of thermosensitive PVC with a transparent, soft flange and soft seal cuff inner cannulae. This Cuffed Tracheostomy Tube is mainly designed for ventilated patients to provide easy insertion, patient comfort, and a good tracheal seal to reduce the danger of aspiration.

• SOFT-SEAL® cuff — low pressure, high volume cuff that may help minimise trauma whilst providing an effective seal. When deflated, the cuff relaxes smoothly to tube minimising discomfort on insertion and removal
• Built-in 15 mm ISO connector for ventilation circuit connection with or without an inner cannula in place
• Clear markings on pilot balloon provide relevant information
• Flange is soft and clear to ensure aesthetic acceptability
• Tube material is radio-opaque to enable confirmation of tube position
• Obturator provides rigidity for tube insertion. Rounded obturator tip for insertion with minimal trauma
• Special clip design minimises obturator tip movement during tube insertion
