ALLEVYN Sacrum (17cm x 17cm) by Smith & Nephew is an adhesive hydrocellular foam sacrum dressing that has been designed for a superior anatomical fit on the sacral area to provide enhanced pressure sore management combined with the proven benefits of Allevyn Adhesive.

It is highly absorbent and can stay in place for up to 5 days.

ALLEVYN Sacrum Classic (Ref #66000700) Dressing has a 13.2cm x 13.5cm pad.

Benefits :

* Convenient adhesive presentation : The wound contact layer of Allevyn Sacrum is coated with a low allergy adhesive which is designed to adhere well to intact skin, but not to wounds. The adhesive has a proven low risk of skin irritation.

* Highly Absorbent : In-vitro studies and clinical experience both demonstrate that as healing progresses Allevyn Sacrum dressings can stay in place for up to seven days. This capacity results from a combination of properties:

• The perforated wound contact layer allows even viscous exudate to pass into the dressing.
• The hydrocellular core of the dressing absorbs and holds liquid in its microscopic structure.
• The breathable outer surface of the dressing allows excess moisture to evaporate away from the dressing.

The result is the formation of a wound environment, which allows healing to progress without the need for frequent dressing changes.

* Promotes early healing : Allevyn Sacrum allows the formation and maintenance of a moist wound healing environment at the wound surface, preventing eschar formation and promoting rapid and trouble-free healing.

* Profiled dressing edges : Allevyn Sacrum has a profiled cross-section, narrowing to micro-thin edges which ensure the dressing remains securely in place and prevents accidental removal by shear between the dressing and clothes and bedding.

* Anatomically shaped : The unique anatomical design is able to conform to the sacral area moulding into the anal cleft, providing secure management of pressure sores and reduced risk of leakage.

* Bacteriaproof/Waterproof : The outer polyurethane layer of Allevyn Sacrum prevents strike-through of excess exudate from the dressing, and minimises the chances of cross-contamination and wound infection, therefore enhancing patient comfort and reducing healthcare costs. It also allows the amount of fluid in the dressing to be monitored.

* Cushioned Comfort : Allevyn Sacrum dressings are soft and cushioning, giving excellent patient comfort and protection.

Instructions for use : 

1. Peel back the protector papers and anchor the dressing over the wound. Smooth the dressing into place, ensuring that the edges of the dressing are not wrinkled.
2. When positioning Allevyn* Sacrum dressings, place the narrow end of the dressing a minimum of 2cm above the anal sphincter, then smooth the dressing over the sacral area.
3. During the early stages of treatment, Allevyn Sacrum dressings should be inspected frequently. Dressings can be left in place undisturbed until exudate is visible and approaches the edge of the dressing. The film backing prevents fluid strikethrough and aids in the prevention of bacterial contamination of the wound. The frequency of dressings change is affected by the nature and condition of the wound, Allevyn dressings are designed to be left in place for up to 7 days.
4. To remove, lift one corner of the dressing and stretch it gently away from the wound. Remove* Universal Adhesive Remover Wipes may be used to aid atraumatic removal of adhesive dressings.
