For patients in need of a tracheostomy and the suctioning of secretions from the airway, Smiths Medical offers the Portex Blue Line Ultra Suctionaid Tracheostomy Tube Cuffed. The Portex Blue Line Ultra Suctionaid Tracheostomy Tube is designed to secure and maintain the stoma and provide an airway for the patient. The tube also has an inflatable cuff that seals around the trachea to prevent air leaks and aspiration. The cuff can be inflated and deflated as needed to adjust the pressure against the tracheal walls.

An incision (stoma) is made in the neck during a tracheostomy surgery to provide direct access to the trachea (windpipe).The tube has a suction lumen that allows for suctioning of secretions without removing the tube, minimizing the risk of trauma and infection associated with repeated tube removals.
