Product Description :

Aquacel Ag Foam Non Adhesive Dressing (10cm x 10cm), Ref #420642 from ConvaTec is an antimicrobial sterile wound dressing, combining the infection-fighting power of ionic silver with the unique capabilities of Hydrofiber Technology.

Hydrofiber® Technology is a soft, absorbent material that transforms into a gel on contact with wound fluid. This gelling action creates an optimal environment for wound healing.

ConvaTec Aquacel Ag Foam Non Adhesive Dressing is mainly designed to use as a primary dressing for the management of shallow and moderately exuding wounds that are infected or at risk of infection.

Convatec Aquacel Ag Foam Dressing consists of a protective film, soft foam layer and aquacel ag layer.

Containing ionic silver, Aquacel Ag Foam Dressing starts to kill a broad spectrum of pathogens including anti-biotic resistant superbugs such as MRSA and VRE in as little as 30 minutes and continues to provide sustained antimicrobial activity for up to 7 days.

FACT: Aquacel Ag Foam dressings killed more P. aeruginosa and S. aureus bacteria beneath the dressing than other silver foam dressings tested in an vitro simulated shallow wound model*.

Instructions For Use :

Do not use the device if the packaging is damaged or open prior to use and dispose of the device according to local regulations.
Before applying the dressing cleanse the wound area with an appropriate wound cleanser and dry the surrounding skin.
Dressing Preparation and Application:
  1. Choose a dressing size and shape to ensure that the central absorbent pad (area within the adhesive window), is 1cm larger than the wound area.
  2. Remove the dressing from the sterile pack, avoid touching the wound contact surface and the adhesive surface where applicable. Remove the release liner if using the adhesive dressing.
  3. The dressing can be cut to shape for convenience.
  4. Hold the dressing over the wound and line up the centre of the dressing with the centre of the wound. Place the pad directly over the wound. For the adhesive dressing, smooth down the adhesive border.
  5. Ensure the dressing is not stretched upon application. Smooth down the adhesive border for adhesive dressing. Ensure joints are sufficiently flexed to allow patient mobility.
  6. An appropriate retention bandage or tape should be used to secure the dressing in place if the dressing does not have an adhesive border, or if the adhesive dressing has been cut.
  7. For difficult to dress anatomical locations, such as the heel or the sacrum, the specially shaped adhesive dressings may be used.
  8. Discard any unused portion of the product after dressing the wound.
Dressing Removal:
  1. The dressing should be changed when clinically indicated (e.g. leakage, bleeding, increased pain). Maximum recommended wear time is up to seven days.
  2. The wound should be cleansed at appropriate intervals.
  3. To remove the dressing, press down gently on the skin and carefully lift one corner of the dressing. Continue until all edges are free. Carefully lift away the dressing and discard according to local clinical protocols.
