Product Description :

Velfour Kit by Datt Mediproducts Private Limited is a single use, four-layer compression bandaging system that mainly helps in treating venous leg ulcers, lymphedema and related conditions. It is available in different sizes with different components. The size of the kit to be applied is selected by measuring the ankle circumference.

The compression produced by the bandage system is the sum of the individual pressures produced by each of the three extensible bandages. Because sub-bandage pressure is directly proportional to bandage tension but inversely proportional to limb circumference, limbs of different sizes will require kits with different components to achieve clinically effective levels of compression.

VELFOUR KIT - A

The DMP Velfour Kit A is ideal for those patients having ankle circumference between 18-25cms.

The Velfour Kit 'A' (Ref. No. 880001) — a multi-layer Compression Bandage System — consists of a smart gauze sterile wound contact layer, the Velfour #1 natural padding bandage, the Velfour #2 light conformable bandage, the Velfour #3 light compression bandage and the Velfour #4 flexible cohesive bandage.

Indications For Use :

The Velfour Multi-layer Compression Bandage System has been specifically developed for the management of:-

• Venous leg ulcers, 
• Lymphedema,
• & Associated conditions

Contraindication :

Should not be used on patients with an ankle: Brachial pressure index of less than 0.8 or on diabetic patients with advanced small vessel disease.

Precautions:

Should the patient develop pain or pale, cool or numb extremities distal to the dressing, the bandages should be promptly removed.

It is important that the size and shape of the limb is assessed carefully and that the appropriate combination of Velfour bandages is used the system will not protect vulnerable areas from excessive pressure in patients with very thin legs or prominent tibial crests unless additional Velfour #1 is used.

CAUTION BEFORE APPLYING THE FIRST BANDAGE

It is important to check the following:

1. Assess the patient to rule out arterial disease. The use of Doppler ultrasound is recommended.
2. Measure the ankle circumference and compare with the top of the box to confirm that the correct size of kit has been selected.
3. Check if the patient's ankle circumference has changed due to a reduction in oedema. Always re-measure after the initial treatment period and check the bandage selection guide for the correct kit for the size of leg.
4. Assess the patient's limb for bony prominences or calf fibrosis. Ensure that these are well protected using the Velfour #1 padding

Medical Compression: It provides approximately 40mmHG of High Sustained Compression Therapy (HSCT) pressure at the ankle, reducing to 17mmHg at knee.

May Be Used Up to 7 Days: Maintains effective level of compression even up to a full week after application.

Natural Padding Bandage (Velfour #1): Orthopaedic wool protects the bony structures (the patients with very thin legs).

Highly Absorbable: Sufficient absorption capacity to manage exudates for up to a full week without needing reapplication.

Instructions For Use :

Apply Velfour in the following sequence

1. Smart Gauze Sterile wound contact layer. Remove the pack with sterile forceps and apply to the wound. Hold in place until covered by Velfour #1. Do not use contents if pouch is opened, damaged or is past the expiry date. If an alternative dressings used under Velfour, refer to the manufacturer's instructions for use under compression prior to application.
2. Velfour #1 Natural padding bandage. Apply from the base of the toes to the knee using a simple spiral technique and 50% overlap. Use any left over padding to further protect any bony prominence or to improve absorption capacity if the wound is heavily exuding.
3. Velfour #2 Light conformable bandage. Apply from the base of the toes to the knee, over Velfour #1, using a simple spiral technique, apply at mid stretch and 50% overlap. For maximum patient comfort, leave a slight border of Velfour #1 visible to prevent subsequent bandages rubbing on the skin. Cut of any excess Velfour #2. Use tape to secure.
4. Velfour #3 Light compression bandage. Apply from the base of the toes to the knee, using a figure of eight technique at 50% extension. Use the central line as guidance. Use tape to secure.
5. Velfour #4 Flexible cohesive bandage. Apply from toes to knee using a spiral technique with 50% extension and 50% overlap. Apply the bandage at 50% extension around the foot to help prevent oedema and steeply across the front of the foot to reduce buitd-up of material over the front of the ankle.

Following application, press lightly on the surface to ensure that the bandage adheres to itself Where the product is used on infected wounds the infection should be inspected and treated as per local clinical protocols.
